CORONAVIRUS - Update on how Council Meetings are held
During the Coronavirus crisis all Council Meetings that take place on a Wednesday evening are now taking place virtually via Zoom.
During normal times, all meetings would be held in the Mary Hall Suite at the Community Hall, however during these unprecedented times that we are currently all in, in order to comply with Government guidelines we are unable to meet in person and have been holding Full Council Meetings via Zoom between Councillors and the Town Clerk/Deputy Clerk.
However, we are pleased to advise that since Wednesday 2 September 2020, we are now able to invite members of the public to join our Council meetings virtually via Zoom. Should you wish to do so, please follow the joining instructions on the link shown on the 'Meeting Notice' or Agenda approximately 15 minutes prior to the start time of the meeting. Should you wish to speak about a matter at the meeting, you may arrange to do so with the permission of the Chairman by contacting the Town Clerk by telephone on: 01626 364089 at least 3 days prior to the meeting.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by not being able to hold meetings at the Community Hall at present.

Decision making
The Full Council (a meeting of all council members) is responsible for all decisions. But in practice, most of the work is given to smaller groups of Councillors in Committees, or Council Officers (paid staff).
Every Council must publish:
- Details of when key decisions will be taken
- Papers of meetings – at least 5 working days beforehand
- Minutes of meetings – showing the decisions that were made
